Dear Readers

The start of 2012 has most definitely been an exciting and adventurous one in more ways than imaginable. We often go through the motions of life without taking a minute to reflect on all the positive things that are going one around us. As the end of the first quarter of the year slowly draws near, my urge to you is to take a minute and reflect on all the positive aspects of life happening to you and around you!

Summer is slowly headed out, and guess what… You Survived! I hope that 90% of you actually built up the courage to get that swimsuit on and enrich your body with some much needed Vitamin A from a day in the sun! If you have not yet built up the courage to do so, before sun disappears, I urge you to get out there, brave the swimsuit, and have a day in the sun!

Of all the highlights for Curvy over the past month, one that definitely stands out was appearing on the 3Talk with Noeleen show. The show was themed ‘Full Figured and Fabulous” and that we are.

Curvy is proud to be launching the first ever Plus Size Beauty Pageant in South Africa, Ms Curvy SA will take place in late June 2012. Find the application form inside the magazine and be sure to enter.

Our Cover feature for this issue is most definitely a lady with true talent, and of course curves! She has an amazing voice and landed in the Top 3 of the 2011 Idols. The beautiful Crushanda Forbes was indeed an honour to interview, and mesmerized all involved when she belted out lyrics during her photoshoot. Once again a huge thank you to Pat Sloane from Pat Sloane Photography for the awesome images, you have a way of making curvy woman look absolutely radiant and beautiful!

Another highlight in this issue is the awesome holiday giveaway from Rani Resorts, be sure to enter to win a trip to Victoria Falls.

I am always surprised at the lack of plus sized clothing stores and designers in South Africa, we are way behind other countries in the regard. Uber Glam, a design school recently held their graduation where two new plus size designers were introduced into the South African market. View these images from page 34.

Since the month of love has come and gone, I decided that my editors picture would be quite fitting for this issue. The support and love I receive from my partner is more than any woman could ask for. Ladies, don’t doubt that you are worthy of love, you are, you are beautiful, and somewhere out there is someone who you deserved to be loved by, someone who deserves you. Don’t settle for less, be confident, love yourself first and others will follow.
